Maryland Casino Revenue Falls for Fifth Consecutive Month
United States.- 7 October 2026 | www.zonadeazar.com Maryland’s six casinos generated $151.4 million in revenue from slot machines and table games during September 2026.
The result represented a marginal 0.1% year-on-year decline, but extended the market’s negative annual trend to five consecutive months.
Fifth Month of Decline
September’s decrease was considerably smaller than some of the declines recorded earlier in the summer.
Casino revenue fell 6% year-on-year in August, while July produced a 4.7% decrease.
The current sequence of declines began in May and continued through June, July, August and September.
MGM National Harbor Leads
MGM National Harbor once again generated the highest revenue in the state.
The property reported $63.9 million, an increase of 1.1% year-on-year, equivalent to roughly $700,000 in additional revenue.
Live! Casino & Hotel Declines
Live! Casino & Hotel ranked second with $54.2 million in September revenue.
The total represented a 1.4% decline compared with September 2025.
Horseshoe Baltimore Down 6.8%
Horseshoe Casino Baltimore recorded the largest percentage decline among the major properties.
Revenue reached $13.1 million, down 6.8% year-on-year.
Ocean Downs and Hollywood Casino Grow
Ocean Downs Casino generated $8.9 million, representing a 6% increase compared with the previous year.
Hollywood Casino Perryville produced the strongest percentage growth, rising 6.3% to approximately $6.7 million.
Rocky Gap Remains Stable
Rocky Gap Casino Resort reported approximately $4.6 million in revenue.
That was only 0.2% below its September 2025 result.
$65 Million for the State
Despite the slight decline in overall casino revenue, contributions to the state increased.
Maryland received approximately $65 million, representing year-on-year growth of 1.8%.
$47.6 Million for Education
Of the total state contribution, $47.6 million was directed to the Education Trust Fund.
Casino proceeds also provided:
- $8.1 million to local communities and jurisdictions.
- $7.6 million to Maryland’s horse racing industry.
- $1.6 million to support small, minority- and women-owned businesses.
Weaker Start to Fiscal Year
During the first three months of fiscal year 2027, Maryland casinos generated approximately $469.3 million in revenue.
That compares with roughly $487.5 million during the same period of the previous fiscal year.
The figures show that the summer slowdown has carried into the beginning of the new fiscal year.
Market Context
Maryland has six commercial casinos:
- MGM National Harbor.
- Live! Casino & Hotel.
- Horseshoe Casino Baltimore.
- Ocean Downs Casino.
- Hollywood Casino Perryville.
- Rocky Gap Casino Resort.
Together, the sector has generated more than $22.2 billion in gaming revenue since Maryland’s first casino opened in 2010.
Next Steps or Impact
Although September’s decline was minimal, Maryland’s casino market has yet to break the negative sequence that began in May.
Performance over the coming months will show whether the slowdown represents a more persistent trend or whether casinos can return to growth during the final quarter of 2026.
At the same time, higher state contributions demonstrate that casino gaming remains an important source of funding for education, local communities and other public programmes.
