ICE 2027 Launches Indie Game Zone for Emerging Studios

Spain.- 7 October 2026 | www.zonadeazar.com ICE Barcelona will introduce a new Indie Game Zone at its 2027 edition, designed specifically for independent studios and emerging game developers.

The dedicated area will connect creators of original casino and iGaming content directly with global operators, buyers and industry decision-makers.

Debut at ICE Barcelona 2027

The new zone will form part of ICE Barcelona 2027, taking place from 18 to 20 January at Fira Barcelona Gran Via.

It will be located within the new Hall 7, an area dedicated to technology, innovation and emerging gaming solutions.

Focus on Emerging Studios

The Indie Game Zone is aimed at studios that have not yet reached the scale or profile of major international suppliers.

Eligibility criteria include:

  • Operating for 10 years or less.
  • Not being a subsidiary of a larger casino games supplier.
  • Not currently exhibiting at ICE or iGB L!VE.
  • Having games or concepts ready to showcase.
  • Offering original and differentiated content.

Direct Access to Operators

One of the main objectives is to give smaller studios direct access to global operators.

Developers will be able to demonstrate prototypes, finished games and new concepts to buyers, potential partners and executives looking for differentiated content.

Pods From €12,500

Selected studios can purchase modular exhibition “pods” starting from €12,500.

Each package includes features such as:

  • A television for demonstrations.
  • Branded cabinet.
  • Studio logo placement.
  • Two stools.
  • Electrical connection.
  • Company profile on the ICE website.

Pre-Event Promotion

The package also includes visibility through ICE marketing channels.

Studios will feature in an Indie Games Showcase campaign, with three games promoted throughout the campaign period.

They will also receive exposure through the Slots News newsletter, distributed to approximately 24,000 casino and iGaming professionals, around 70% of whom are operators.

Guided Tours

Indie Game Zone exhibitors will also be included in guided show-floor tours.

The initiative is designed to create introductions between studios and executives who may not otherwise be familiar with their products.

Statements

World Gaming Group Managing Director Alex Pratt said the zone is intended to give genuinely exciting new studios a level of visibility that could previously have taken years to build.

He added that many of the industry’s next major products may come from teams that are not yet widely known.

New Hall 7

The Indie Game Zone will form part of ICE’s new Hall 7.

The hall will focus on areas including:

  • Artificial intelligence.
  • Enterprise technology.
  • Payments.
  • Infrastructure.
  • Fintech.
  • iGaming innovation.
  • Data-led solutions.

Technology as a Growing Focus

The launch of Hall 7 reflects the growing importance of technology across the gaming industry.

ICE identified increasing demand for more dedicated discussion and exhibition space around infrastructure, automation, artificial intelligence, technology-led compliance and new operator tools.

Applications Open

Applications for the Indie Game Zone are now open.

Interested studios are being asked to provide information about their business, games and the distinctive proposition they plan to bring to ICE.

Next Steps or Impact

The Indie Game Zone expands ICE’s support for smaller developers and aims to reduce barriers between emerging studios and major operators.

For developers, it provides an opportunity to showcase products directly to international buyers; for operators, it creates a new destination for discovering content and intellectual property beyond established suppliers.
