BGaming Brings Its Sustainability Initiative to Portugal

Portugal.- 8 October 2026 | www.zonadeazar.com BGaming has expanded its WE CARE. WE ACT sustainability initiative in Portugal, combining activities at SBC Summit with environmental and educational projects in the local community.

The company incorporated recycled materials into its stand, reduced paper consumption, introduced sustainable merchandise, joined a beach clean-up in Lisbon and announced support for VIVA Lab.

Recycled Materials at SBC Summit

BGaming used panels made from recycled materials as part of its exhibition stand.

The initiative was designed to reduce the environmental footprint of its physical presence while bringing the company’s sustainability principles directly onto the show floor.

Reducing Printed Materials

The supplier also significantly reduced its use of printed promotional materials.

Instead of traditional brochures and product leaflets, visitors received a single recyclable card containing a QR code linking to digital information.

BGaming estimates that this avoided printing approximately 16kg of paper.

Sustainable Merchandise

Environmental criteria were also applied to the company’s event merchandise.

BGaming used:

  • Organic and eco-friendly cotton products.
  • Custom poker sets made from 100% recycled plastic.
  • Material containing more than 95% post-consumer waste.
  • Products made without glue or toxic additives.
  • Carabiners produced using approximately 7kg of recycled plastic.

Lisbon Beach Clean-Up

Following the event, members of the BGaming team took part in a beach clean-up organised by the Lisbon Oceanarium.

Over around two hours, the team collected:

  • 2kg of plastic.
  • 1kg of cigarette butts.

The initiative was designed to prevent waste from entering the ocean and damaging the surrounding ecosystem.

Partnership With VIVA Lab

BGaming has also partnered with VIVA Lab, a Porto-based organisation specialising in education, plastic recycling and circular-economy projects.

The supplier will support initiatives designed to teach young people how materials can be reused rather than simply discarded.

Precious Plastic and Plastic Play

The collaboration will support VIVA Lab’s Precious Plastic project and Plastic Play educational programme.

Across 10 activities, up to 240 students will learn practical approaches to plastic reuse and transformation.

Up to 70kg of Plastic to Be Reused

The programme is expected to process approximately 60kg to 70kg of polypropylene.

The objective is to combine measurable environmental impact with practical education around recycling and the circular economy.

Statements

BGaming CMO Kate Puteiko said WE CARE. WE ACT is intended to function as an operating principle rather than simply a communications message.

She noted that Portugal welcomes much of the industry each year for SBC Summit and said the company wants to contribute positively to the host country.

Educational Impact

VIVA Lab Porto Chief Education Officer Alexandra Baltazar said the partnership will allow the organisation to reach and inspire more young people through hands-on sustainability education.

The development of educational materials could also allow the activities to be replicated by other Precious Plastic spaces across Europe.

Sustainability Across iGaming

The initiative reflects a broader industry shift towards more sustainable business practices.

Large gaming events create significant demand for materials, transport, exhibition stands and merchandise, prompting suppliers and operators to examine how their environmental footprint can be reduced.

Next Steps or Impact

BGaming intends to continue expanding WE CARE. WE ACT across the markets where it operates.

In Portugal, the focus will remain on combining more sustainable operational decisions with measurable community projects.

The partnership with VIVA Lab will allow the initiative to extend beyond the exhibition itself and generate longer-lasting educational and environmental results.
