Uruguay DGC Plans Two-Stage Consolidation of New Parque Rodó Venue

Uruguay.- 9 October 2026 | www.zonadeazar.com Uruguay’s General Directorate of Casinos, DGC, plans to develop its new Parque Rodó entertainment venue in Montevideo through a two-stage process.

Located at the former Parque Hotel casino site, the venue has recently joined the state-operated network, with the DGC projecting first-year revenue of around UYU10 million per month, approximately US$250,000.

First Stage: Launch and Ramp-Up

The first year will focus on bringing the venue fully into operation and progressively consolidating its activities.

During this period, the DGC will work on adjusting services, internal operations and the venue’s commercial performance.

Second Stage: Full Consolidation

From the second year onwards, the project will enter a second phase focused on consolidating the service.

The aim is for the venue to reach a stable operating model once the initial ramp-up period has been completed.

Strategic Opportunity

Carlos Amorín, Commercial Area Manager at the DGC, described the opening as a strategic opportunity to respond to demand for entertainment and gambling services in Montevideo.

The addition also expands the authority’s commercial and geographic footprint.

US$650,000 Initial Investment

The launch involved a US$650,000 payment to the Municipality of Montevideo.

The amount covered slot machines, equipment, furniture and other assets transferred with the venue.

Additional Expenditure

A further extraordinary expense of around UYU1.5 million has also been budgeted.

These funds are intended to cover the work required to prepare and operate the venue under DGC management.

From Parque Hotel to the State Network

The property had previously operated under the administration of the Municipality of Montevideo.

At the end of August, it formally became part of the network managed by the General Directorate of Casinos.

35 Venues Nationwide

With the addition of Parque Rodó, the DGC now operates a network of 35 venues.

Its footprint extends across 18 of Uruguay’s departments, combining public and mixed operating models.

Opening Hours and Staffing

The new Parque Rodó venue will operate from 10am until 2am.

Its initial workforce will consist of 14 employees.

First-Year Expectations

The DGC expects favourable results during the first 12 months of operation.

The projected UYU10 million in monthly revenue will serve as an early benchmark for assessing the commercial performance of the venue.

Next Steps or Impact

The DGC’s immediate priority will be to stabilise operations throughout the first year before moving into full consolidation from year two.

Parque Rodó expands the public casino network’s presence in Montevideo and adds another asset to the DGC’s strategy of strengthening Uruguay’s land-based entertainment and gambling offering.
