Zona de Azar USA – Overwatch League Grand Finals Announced for Philadelphia

USA.- May 9th 2019 www.zonadeazar.com The Overwatch League Grand Finals will be held at the Wells Fargo Center, in Philadelphia.

Prizes for the top two teams total $1.7M USD.

The event will be livestreamed exclusively on Twitch and broadcasted in the U.S. on the ABC network.

The Overwatch League (OWL) season is at its midway point, with the Stage Two finals slated for this weekend. But the end goal is the Grand Finals, and Blizzard Entertainment has announced that the big event will be held in Philadelphia at the Wells Fargo Center on September 29.

The two top teams will be vying for $1.7M USD, with the winning team awarded $1.1M and the runner-up $600K. The season playoffs will feature 12 of the league’s total 20 teams; the two division winners, the next best four teams by record, and two qualifiers from a play-in tournament.

The event will be livestreamed exclusively on Twitch (except in China), and also broadcast on the ABC television network. Other global services airing the Grand Finals will be TSN in Canada; Zhanqi, NetEase CC, Bilibili, and Huya in China; Mediawan in France; Sport1 in Germany; and Eterra TV in Russia. The event will also be broadcast on the ESPN app and at Overwatch.com.

Tickets will go on sale on June 7. Blizzard said that more details will be released as the event approaches.

While 12 teams will be battling to make it to the Grand Finals after the regular season concludes, if the Philadelphia Fusion make it – which they did in 2018 – they will be the home team. Comcast Spectacor owns the Wells Fargo Center as well as the Fusion, and is currently planning a home venue within the city for the 2021 season—at an estimated cost of $50M.
