Brazil: Legislative Assembly of Mato Grosso to Debate Creation of Lotteries

Brasil.- May 23 2025 www.zonadeazar.com  On Friday, May 23rd, the Legislative Assembly of Mato Grosso will host a public hearing to explore the creation of legal municipal and state lotteries. The initiative, led by State Deputy Elizeu Nascimento (PL), aims to channel lottery revenue into critical areas such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure.

Representatives from the National Association of Municipal and State Lotteries (Analome) and several local governments will participate. The discussion seeks legal alternatives to combat the widespread presence of illegal gambling platforms in Brazil, following the successful examples of Lotec (Cuiabá), Lottopar (Paraná), and Loterj (Rio de Janeiro).

“This could mean millions in revenue to tackle urgent local issues,” said Nascimento. The session will take place at the Renê Barbour Plenary starting at 9:00 AM local time.
