Buenos Aires Casinos Tenders to Begin on July 8

Buenos Aires – April 25, 2025 – www.zonadeazar.com The Buenos Aires gaming regulatory body has launched a tender process aimed at modernizing seven local casinos. The Buenos Aires Provincial Lottery and Casino Institute issued an official statement.
According to the statement, the action will enhance “the competitiveness of the province’s casinos.”
- The establishments are located in Necochea, Miramar, Tandil, Sasso, Hermitage, Mar de Ajó, and Sierra de la Ventana.
Gonzalo Atanasof, president of the agency, signed the resolution that promotes the tender. Currently, the seven casinos operate under extended concessions.
Buenos Aires Casinos: Modernization Proposals
The regulator reported that winners will sign 20-year operational contracts, with optional one-year extensions.
Proposal evaluations will begin on July 8, at the Institute’s headquarters in La Plata. The Institute stated: “We expect bidders to invest in building improvements.” In addition, they must “modernize gaming halls and slot machines” and “promote competitive entertainment venues.”
The regulator is demanding more from operators: they must offer food and entertainment options year-round.
Atanasof described the measure as “a key step towards modernization” and also for “enhancing the competitiveness of the province’s casinos.”
He stated the tender is based on “a commitment made jointly with the province.” He highlighted job protection, as the measure “ensures the continuity of employees” and will “improve their working conditions.” He also said it would help “capitalize on the tourism and entertainment potential” of all seven casinos.
Necochea: An Obstacle to Regional Plans?
However, the Necochea casino tender may face a potential hurdle. Arturo Rojas, the city’s mayor, told Ecos Diarios that Necochea is seeking a final sale of the property.
Rojas suggested modifying the tender documents to specify the modernization of the gaming hall and operation of the slot machines as essential conditions for the sale.
He said the local government “intends to finalize” the sale agreement, with the sale tender expected within six months.
The mayor stressed the importance of the provincial tender. He called it “very important” for the city and added that “expectations are high,” as “apparently, some parties are interested in submitting proposals.”
