Key Vote on Enjoy’s Withdrawal from Three Casinos in Chile is Frustrated

Absence of Ministry of Finance official prevents decision in critical session

Chile.- August 7 2025 www.zonadeazar.com A session that promised to be decisive for the future of three major Chilean casinos ended in frustration. The vote on the acceptance of Enjoy’s resignation from the operation of the casinos in Viña del Mar, Coquimbo, and Pucón was suspended due to the absence of a key representative from the Ministry of Finance.

The situation caused unease among the regional governors involved, who were hoping for an urgent resolution given the uncertainty generated by the operator’s departure.

Context of Enjoy’s resignation

The Enjoy company requested the early resignation from the concessions of three gaming venues it manages, with the aim of facilitating an orderly transition and preserving jobs, without the economic guarantees associated with non-compliance being enforced.

This move is part of the financial restructuring of the company, which is undergoing a judicial reorganization process and seeks to reduce its operating costs.

Political reactions and demand for institutional respect

The governors of Valparaíso, Coquimbo, and La Araucanía expressed their displeasure at the lack of coordination, noting that the official’s failure to appear represents a lack of respect for the regions and the decision-making process.

They also stressed that the failure to resolve the issue directly affects casino workers, as well as the economic stability of the areas where these entertainment centers operate.

What to expect in the future

The Superintendency of Casinos (SCJ) will have to reschedule the session for a new date, when the vote on Enjoy’s resignation and the eventual awarding of the vacant licenses will be resumed.

The executive branch is expected to find a quick solution to ensure the continued operation of the casinos, secure jobs, and avoid legal disputes over breach of contract.
