Spanish Poker Championship Breaks Records at Casino Barcelona

Spain – August 14, 2025 – www.zonadeazar.com – The Spanish Poker Championship (CEP) by PokerStars, running since August 5 at Casino Barcelona, reaches its halfway mark with the start of the Main Event, the festival’s most prestigious and largest tournament.
Record-breaking Mini CEP and Opening
The first week delivered historic numbers:

Mini CEP: Featured two starting flights for the first time, reaching 812 entries and surpassing all previous records. A total of 175 players advanced to Day 2, competing for a coveted title and points for the annual ranking, led by Guillermo Sanz, with the CEP 2026 Sponsorship at stake.

Opening: Registered 932 entries, up 8% from 2024 and 13% from 2023, with Alberto Area crowned champion.

- Starting stack: 30,000 chips
- Structure: 45, 20, and 50-minute levels depending on the day
