Argentina: LOTBA Closes 2,000 Illegal Platforms and Reports 110 Influencers

Argentina.- July 25 2025 www.zonadeazar.com The Buenos Aires City Lottery (LOTBA), in collaboration with the specialized prosecutor’s office, closed more than 2,000 illegal platforms and filed complaints against 110 influencers who promoted unauthorized gambling on social media.

According to President Jesús Acevedo, the raids resulted in the seizure of electronic equipment, large sums of cash, and even a firearm, which shows the seriousness and risk associated with these operations.

75–80% of these platforms operated through channels such as WhatsApp, even allowing minors to access them without any control or regulation.

To address this trend, LOTBA launched the “Hablar es ganar” (Talking is winning) campaign and organized an educational festival against child gambling addiction, which will take place on July 26 and 27 at Arena Parque Norte.

Acevedo warned that the promotion of illegal gambling by influencers represents a new regulatory challenge and called for the immediate updating of the legal framework to punish these practices and protect vulnerable members of the public.
