Argentine Ascenso Football Club Denies Links to Sports Betting

Villa Dálmine distances itself from the accusations
In response to the publications targeting the entity, the club clarified that the person involved is not part of the management nor does he currently collaborate with the institution, and that the courts have not implicated the club in the investigation.
The statement also points out that the recent raid on the home of a former director is exclusively linked to a personal situation involving his son and is unrelated to the club’s institutional activities.

“In relation to media reports linking our institution to a person who allegedly attempted to bribe someone in the field of sports betting, Club Villa Dálmine states:
- That said person has no involvement in the management of the institution nor is he a collaborator of the club.
- That the courts have not implicated the club in the ongoing investigation.
- We understand that the search carried out at the home of a former director of our institution was due to his son’s personal involvement in the alleged scheme.
- This matter is strictly a private matter for the person mentioned and has no connection whatsoever with the activities or institutional actions of our club.
- We strongly condemn any conduct that violates sports ethics and integrity in competition.
- We reiterate our full willingness to cooperate with the competent authorities in order to clarify the facts.
As an institution, we reaffirm our commitment to the values of sport, transparency, and fair play, and we will continue to work with responsibility and honesty for the benefit of our members, supporters, and the community.”
Difficult sporting present for Violeta in Primera B
On the sporting front, Villa Dálmine’s present is also worrying. The club is 19th in the Primera B Clausura Tournament, with just six points in seven games: one win, four draws, and two defeats.
The situation in the annual table is not encouraging either. Violeta is in 19th place out of 21 teams, with 29 points, just four points above the relegation zone to Primera C. So far this year, the team has achieved six wins, eleven draws, and ten losses.
