Brasil: Lottopar Funds Forensic Labs to Strengthen Public Security

Brazil – Paraná.– 19 February 2026 – www.zonadeazar.com The State of Paraná will invest nearly BRL 5 million from Lottopar resources to modernise the Scientific Police’s laboratory network, decentralising toxicological and chemical analyses and improving forensic response times across the state.

Overview

The initiative reinforces the social return model of regulated gaming, directing lottery revenues to public security, scientific infrastructure and regional service expansion.

Details / Background

The agreement includes:

  • three liquid chromatographs for interior units

  • one nuclear magnetic resonance system for the capital

The new technology will increase detection capacity, improve accuracy and deliver faster forensic results for criminal investigations.

Institutional and social impact

Decentralised testing reduces turnaround times and strengthens regional laboratories, enabling alcohol and drug identification tests to be performed outside Curitiba.

The project highlights the strategic integration between state institutions and the role of regulated lotteries in funding essential public services.

Future outlook

Paraná’s model reinforces a regional trend in which regulated gaming revenues are channelled into public policy, enhancing system legitimacy and positioning state lotteries as drivers of social and institutional development.
