Brazil: Belo Horizonte Proposes Tax Cut to Attract Betting Operators

Mayor aims to position the city as a betting hub in Brazil

Brazil.- July 25, 2025 www.zonadeazar.com Mayor Damião has proposed a bill to reduce the municipal tax on betting, bingo, and lotteries from 5% to 2% to attract more betting operators to Belo Horizonte.

The proposal seeks to expand the taxpayer base and generate future revenue, with an estimated additional income of up to R$ 2.8 million in 2025 despite the tax concession.

Six companies have already expressed interest in operating in the city, reinforcing the intention to position Belo Horizonte as a competitive hub in Brazil’s regulated betting market.
