This marks a turning point in Brazil’s digital gaming landscape.

Under the new policy, regulated betting operators can now offer their services through Android apps — a privilege previously reserved for Caixa lotteries and horse racing.

Key requirements include:

  • Apps must be free to download;

  • Cannot use Google’s payment system;

  • Must restrict access to users under 18;

  • Must display clear messages promoting responsible gambling;

  • Must be linked to an official website with a valid Brazilian license.

Experts view this move as a significant step in combating illegal betting platforms and improving user safety. Brazil’s Ministry of Finance and the Brazilian Association of Bets and Fantasy Sports (ABFS) praised the change as a boost for transparency and market integrity.

Google has also increased its crackdown on unauthorized betting ads, blocking non-compliant content and suspending violating accounts. With this regulatory shift, the Play Store is expected to become a safer and more organized space for Brazilian bettors.
