FIJA Launches in Latin America with Montero as President

A historic milestone for the Latin American gaming industry

Mexico.- 2th September 2025 www.zonadeazar.com The Latin American gaming industry made history with the official launch of the International Gambling Federation (FIJA) during GAT Expo CDMX 2025. The new entity seeks to unify regional associations and industry chambers, providing one consolidated voice for the sector.

Leadership and founding members

Evert Montero, president of FECOLJUEGOS (Colombia), was appointed as FIJA’s first president. Montero described the moment as “historic,” emphasizing that the federation was born from dialogue among regional stakeholders to address shared challenges and set collective priorities.

Founding members include:

  • Miguel Ángel Ochoa, president of AIEJA (Mexico)

  • Lorena Rojas, president of APOJA (Paraguay)

  • Fernando CalderĂłn, president of SONAJA (Peru)

  • Elizabeth Maya Cano, president of CORNAZAR (Colombia)

  • David Moniz, president of the Dominican Casino Association

  • Javier MiliĂĄn, president of CIBELAE

Together, they lay the foundation for regional cooperation and regulatory dialogue.

FIJA’s goals and relevance

The federation was created to provide an organized platform for representation and collaboration. Its priorities include:

  • Developing regional standards.

  • Strengthening relations with regulators to promote responsible and sustainable gaming.

  • Facilitating knowledge exchange and best practices.

“Today, we committed to advancing common objectives, and with everyone united, we will succeed,” Montero stated, noting that more associations are expected to join FIJA soon.
