IBIA Strengthens Betting Integrity in South America

Brazil.– April 10, 2026 – www.zonadeazar.com  The International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) held its first Integrity Working Group in South America on April 9, 2026, in São Paulo, bringing together government authorities, sports bodies, and licensed operators to strengthen efforts against match-fixing.

Sponsored by Galerabet, the event focused on aligning stakeholders around measures to detect, prevent, and sanction betting-related corruption as Brazil’s regulated market continues to develop.

Participants included Fábio Macorin, Deputy Secretary of Monitoring and Enforcement at SPA, and Giovanni Rocco, National Secretary for Sports Betting, alongside representatives from CONMEBOL, the São Paulo Football Federation, and IBIA members operating in Brazil.

The agenda combined market analysis with operational insights from both betting and sports sectors, highlighting the role of monitoring systems and data sharing in identifying suspicious activities. IBIA also addressed how international alert systems can enhance oversight.

Marcos Sabiá, CEO of Galerabet, stated:
“At Galerabet, integrity is a core value. We are committed to ensuring a safe, transparent, and responsible betting environment, and we believe collaboration is key to preventing match-fixing.”

Khalid Ali, CEO of IBIA, added:
“This Working Group brings together regulators, sports bodies, and operators to strengthen cooperation and deliver a coordinated response to match-fixing. It reflects the growing emphasis on cross-sector collaboration in Brazil.”

Match-fixing remains a global threat requiring international monitoring, structured data sharing, and cross-border cooperation.

IBIA’s Global Monitoring and Alert Platform (Global MAP), with over 90 members, monitors more than $300 billion in global betting activity annually. According to H2 Gambling Capital, IBIA members account for 90% of licensed betting volume in Brazil.

As Brazil’s regulatory framework requires operators to join integrity monitoring systems, IBIA continues to support compliance and strengthen market protections.

The event follows IBIA’s Q1 2026 Integrity Report and the publication of a Payment Provider Forum guide aimed at combating illegal betting and enhancing market protection.
