Premier League 25/26: Final Season for Betting Shirt Sponsors?

Premier League enters its last season with front-of-shirt betting sponsors
United Kingdom, August 6, 2025 – www.zonadeazar.com The 2025/2026 Premier League season kicks off on August 16 and will be the last to allow betting companies to feature on the front of club shirts. From 26/27, this will be officially banned.
Why is the rule changing?
Despite earning billions through broadcasting and commercial rights, many clubs relied on betting sponsors for revenue. The Premier League is now moving toward a new regulatory era limiting betting company exposure.
10 clubs still partnered with betting brands
Current sponsors include:
- Aston Villa (Betano)
- Bournemouth (BJ88)
- Brentford (Hollywoodbets)
- Burnley (96.com)
- Crystal Palace (Net88)
- Everton (Stake)
- Fulham (Sbotop)
- Sunderland (G88)
- West Ham (BoyleSports)
- Wolverhampton (Debet)
Chelsea and Nottingham start without main sponsors
Chelsea, 2023 Club World Cup champion, withdrew from its deal with Stake due to fan opposition.
Nottingham Forest lost Kaiyun Sports as a sponsor after its UK license was revoked. Both clubs were warned for promoting unlicensed operators.
Financial divide shapes sponsorship strategy
Top clubs like Manchester City (€837.8M) and Manchester United (€770.6M) work with global brands, while lower-income teams turn to betting sponsors for essential revenue.
Betting still allowed in limited forms
Though front-of-shirt logos are banned, betting brands will still appear via:
- Shirt sleeves
- LED boards
- Stadium commercial spaces
- Sleeve deals currently make up 39% of top-tier sponsorship value.
Broadcasting revenue to offset betting losses
Expected TV rights revenue will reach £6.7 billion, exceeding the previous £5 billion cycle. Ticket sales also remain key to financial stability.
