In an exclusive interview with Zona de Azar, Dennis Algreen, Senior Marketing Director at SBC, analyzed the impact of the first edition of the SBC Summit Rio following the regulation of the Brazilian market and explained why the 2026 edition is shaping up to be a decisive moment for the industry.
According to Algreen, the launch of the event in Brazil was essential to bring order to a complex and rapidly evolving ecosystem. “It was crucial to generate learning and networking in a market of this scale, where operators, affiliates, and suppliers needed to understand the regulations and build local alliances,” he said.
Looking ahead to 2026, he noted that the market is beginning to stabilize, although it still presents challenges that require dialogue and trust: “Partnerships in this industry are built over time. Our events help to create the essential links needed to do business.”

Regulation, payments, and innovation: the central themes of the Summit
With the regulations fully in force since January 2025, Algreen announced that the agenda for the SBC Summit Rio 2026 will focus on how companies must adapt their digital infrastructure to comply with regulatory requirements and operate sustainably.
Among the main themes of the event, he mentioned:
- Compliance and regulatory technology
- Payment processing in Brazil, one of the most challenging aspects for international companies
- Technological innovation applied to business growth
- Affiliation and influencers, a key channel for player acquisition in Latin America
- Preparation for the World Cup, which will represent a strategic moment for licensed operators
“The focus now is on growth: defining the next steps, the right partners, and the right tools to leverage the full potential of the market,” he explained.
Brazil, among the most attractive markets in the world
Algreen did not hesitate to position Brazil as one of the most promising territories for the global online gaming industry.
“In terms of size, interest in betting, and sports culture, Brazil is destined to become one of the largest markets in the world. That explains the enormous level of attention it attracted before and after regulation,” he said.
He also emphasized that, while it shares similarities with other countries in the region, Brazil has its own particularities that require products and commercial strategies to be adapted locally.
Networking, premium content, and regionalized experience
When asked about the new features of SBC Summit Rio 2026, Algreen highlighted that SBC will continue to focus on a formula that combines business opportunities, high-level in-person experiences, and top-notch content.

- Social events and networking meetings integrated into general access
- Conferences segmented by verticals and professional profiles
