Ensuring Fair Play and Tournament Integrity

A Proactive Approach to Match-Fixing

Brazil – August 7, 2025  www.zonadeazar.com The UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 featured a dedicated anti-match-fixing action plan to ensure a fair and transparent competition.
UEFA stated:

“We ensured that all players received education to help them understand and combat match-fixing threats.”

The plan also included advanced monitoring and intelligence gathering, built on previous tournament experiences and collaboration with integrity partners.

Customized Integrity Education for Players and Referees

All 16 national teams took part in custom awareness sessions, delivered by UEFA-trained integrity officers.
Topics included:

  • Emerging trends in match manipulation
  • Real case studies
  • How to report suspicious approaches, including on social media

Referees also received special sessions on new and emerging risks.

Global Collaboration for Sports Integrity

In July, UEFA hosted the annual Anti-Match-Fixing Task Force meeting in Nyon, with participation from:

  • CONMEBOL, IOC, UNODC, Interpol, Europol
  • Gespa, ULIS, Sportradar, Council of Europe
