WBSC Renews Agreements with Sportradar and Green Future Project

Switzerland.– 3 January 2026 – www.zonadeazar.com The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) announced the renewal of its agreements with Sportradar and Green Future Project, two key partners in safeguarding competition integrity and reducing the environmental footprint of international baseball and softball.

Overview

WBSC confirmed the extension of two core alliances within its institutional agenda: its partnership with Sportradar — launched in 2022 — focused on protecting sporting integrity through advanced monitoring tools; and its collaboration with Green Future Project (GFP), established in 2023, which led to the publication of the organisation’s first Carbon Footprint Report in 2024.

Both renewals strengthen the federation’s strategy of combining governance, technology and sustainability as pillars of modern sport.

Details / Context

The Sportradar agreement centres on the use of the AI-powered Universal Fraud Detection System (UFDS), designed to detect unusual betting patterns and prevent competition manipulation across WBSC international tournaments.

It also includes ad-hoc Intelligence and Investigations services, such as due diligence for individuals and organisations, targeted investigations and continuous monitoring.

WBSC’s integrity drive was further highlighted by international umpire Trent Thomas speaking at an IOC technical webinar ahead of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.

Thomas, a Global Ambassador for the Prevention of Manipulation of Competitions (PMC) programme, underlined the importance of ethics, confidentiality and independence among Olympic officials — marking the first time the International Olympic Committee selected an active game official as a speaker in this context.

Key Focus Areas

🔍 Integrity as a strategic priority

The renewed Sportradar partnership reinforces WBSC’s commitment to protecting its competitions from corruption risks — an increasingly important issue across global sport.

AI-driven tools and education programmes position the federation among the most proactive organisations in preventive governance.

🌱 Sustainability and climate action

In parallel, WBSC extended its cooperation with Green Future Project to expand its carbon-offset strategy, originally launched with strategic partner Pilio.

Since 2023, the programme has helped absorb or avoid more than 1,350 tonnes of CO₂, plant 21,565 trees in protected areas and generate the equivalent of 923,793 kWh of renewable energy.

One flagship initiative is the Tana River Forest Regeneration Project, aimed at long-term ecosystem restoration.

📊 Transparency and measurement

In early 2025, WBSC officially released its Carbon Footprint Report 2024, produced with GFP, serving as a diagnostic tool to identify major emission sources and guide future sustainability priorities.

Forward outlook

With these renewals, WBSC is consolidating a governance model that blends competitive integrity, technological innovation and environmental responsibility.

As regulatory and social expectations rise, the federation aims to position itself as a global benchmark for best practices in international sport.
