Holland.- 8th August 2019 www.zonadeazar.com Bwin has received €350,000 fine from Kansspelautoriteit, the Dutch gaming authority today for offering online gambling via the Bwin.com site. They followed a number of other firms who have received similar penalties from the country’s regulator earlier..

Bwin Dutch Fine Reasons
The Gaming Authority said that live casino games, including poker, blackjack, roulette and sports betting were clearly visible on the site. After further investigation, they found Bwin with a primary focus on Netherlands-based consumers through the use of the Dutch language. Moreover, using the .nl extension and use of the iDeal payment method to receive deposits.

Reason for Bwin to receive this Dutch fine is that Gambling Authority found that for a considerable time, they offered services on their site, especially large selection of sports betting.

“It was also possible to play live casino games such as roulette, blackjack and poker. The site focused (also) on Dutch consumers. This is evident from the use of the Dutch payment method iDEAL. Offering the possibility of gambling is prohibited in the Netherlands without a license. Under the current Gambling Act, it is not possible to obtain a license for online gambling.”

Dutch senate has passed the Remote Gambling Act earlier this year with the target of coming into effect on Wednesday July 1, 2020. Companies interested to launch services in the Netherlands will have their permit applications processed from that date. However, the market for online games of chance will be open from Friday January 1, 2021. The Gambling Authority so far received 183 interested companies considering launch in the country.

KSA made it clear that to secure their licence , applicants must stop services aimed at consumers in the Netherlands. During the past year, of the seven administrative fines, five related to online gaming. Betclic Everest Group’s Bet-At-Home, Betsson subsidiary Corona, Mr Green operator MRG, -CyberRock Entertainment and its Honeydew subsidiary, and William Hill received similar fines for targeting Dutch players online.
