Zona de Azar USA – Official ESPN BET Logo Revealed in Anticipation of November Launch
USA.- October 19th 2023 www.zonadeazar.com ESPN unveiled the official logos for ESPN BET on Wednesday, an announcement that comes as the new betting app gears up for a November launch.
The primary logo features the words “ESPN BET,” with “BET” written in mint green. ESPN’s main logo is red, while its streaming service, ESPN+, uses gold visuals.
“The mint color is a twist on the traditional ESPN colorways, but one we think complements the overall portfolio well,” Chin Wang, vice president of visual storytelling for ESPN Creative Studio, said in a statement. “ESPN Red is strong, standard-bearer; ESPN+ Gold is premium storytelling, exclusive; and now we have ESPN BET Mint, which is fun and innovative — two traits we expect to come through when fans experience the new sportsbook.”
The secondary logo features a minty rendering of ESPN’s “E” inside of a “B.”
Industry braces for ESPN BET launch
ESPN BET will be powered by PENN Entertainment, whose previous sports betting partnership with Barstool Sports didn’t work out as hoped. While Barstool Sports has an engaged audience of young, male sports fans, Barstool Sportsbook never gained similar traction to FanDuel and DraftKings, and it also lagged behind BetMGM and Caesars Sportsbook in terms of market share.
ESPN’s formidable brand could appeal to a wider, more diverse audience than Barstool Sports. Given PENN’s market access, ESPN BET will become available to bettors in 17 states when it launches in November. There’s optimism among PENN Entertainment and ESPN higher-ups that the mobile sports betting platform can quickly attract significant customer attention.
“We’re ready to compete at a scale level,” PENN CEO Jay Snowden said in August.
New logo aside, there are many unanswered questions about ESPN BET’s future. The new sportsbook will use PENN’s existing tech stack, but will the companies find ways to make ESPN BET a noticeably different product than Barstool Sportsbook? Will bettors be limited to frustratingly small wagers?
Furthermore, will ESPN BET gain market access in New York and Connecticut? New York’s size makes it an attractive destination for mobile operators, even with the state’s 51% tax rate. Connecticut is home to ESPN’s Bristol headquarters, which could motivate the new operator to make a deal with the state lottery to enter its market.
And how will ESPN’s personalities embrace sports wagering? Major names like Scott Van Pelt and Pat McAfee will almost certainly lean into betting discussions, but others may be less inclined.
In that same vein, how will ESPN market its new product without overwhelming its readers and viewers? While some sports fans will enjoy an increased discussion of wagering, it could turn others off. Can ESPN find a proper balance?
When could ESPN BET launch?
While ESPN and PENN executives have been quiet on when in November the ESPN BET platform will become available to customers, Sports Handle’s Eric Raskin pinpointed Nov. 20 as a possible internal deadline for the company.
The Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs face off on ESPN’s Monday Night Football on Nov. 20. The rematch of last season’s Super Bowl — and another matchup between the Kelce brothers — figures to draw major national attention from NFL bettors and fans alike.
The Eagles-Chiefs matchup is the only November Monday Night Football game featuring two teams currently sporting winning records. It is by far the most anticipated Monday Night Football matchup next month, if not the entire season, and launching ESPN BET in advance of that game makes sense for a company hoping to make an immediate splash in the sports wagering world.
