Brazil.- July 11, 2024 www.zonadeazar.com OKTO, a digital payments solutions company, signed a contract with PIXS Cobrança e Serviços de Tecnologia, responsible for processing payments for the Rio de Janeiro State Lottery (LOTERJ) . From now on, OKTO will be the official payment method for the Rio de Janeiro municipality.

For August this year, a seminar is scheduled to explain, among other topics, how LOTERJ’s working method works and how the company will contribute to the betting market in Rio de Janeiro.

Recently, the Federal Regional Court 1 (TRF1), in Brasília, partially granted the demand of the Rio de Janeiro State Lottery (LOTERJ) which aimed to authorize the National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL) to verify whether betting and gaming operators online in Rio de Janeiro have the legitimacy to operate in the state, thus determining the suspension of the activities of those who do not have a license granted by the municipality.

The decision did not seem favorable to everyone. The National Association of Games and Lotteries (ANJL) and the Brazilian Institute of Responsible Gaming (IBJR) released notes to give their opinion on the situation.

“ANJL understands that the misinterpretation given by Loterj to the decision is nothing more than a new frustrated attempt to force operators to be forced to obtain the state license before the deadline for obtaining the Federal License is completed”, claimed the ANJL in its official announcement.

“The responsibility for authorizing, regulating, monitoring and sanctioning fixed-odd bets lies with the Ministry of Finance, and it is unacceptable for a state standard to precede federal legislation. ANATEL, as a telecommunications regulatory agency, does not have the competence to verify the legitimacy of lottery operations”, pointed out the IBJR.

Furthermore, Blaze, after having its operation authorized in Brazil, requested accreditation from LOTERJ to be able to operate legally in Rio de Janeiro.
