Zona de Azar Brasil – Brazil: Bank Blocks Funds of Indebted Bettors

Brazil.- February 21, 2025 www.zonadeazar.com  C6 Bank, a prominent digital bank in the country, has announced that it will block the funds of customers who use their overdraft balance for online betting. The measure aims to prevent the use of credit as a means to gamble on online gaming platforms.

The Brazilian betting market has been facing challenges in combating excessive gambling debt among bettors. As a result, banks are seeking strategies to financially educate their frequent betting customers.

According to C6 Bank, when a user requests overdraft credit, the amount will not be available for use on gaming platforms. The digital bank has also committed to blocking any type of fund transfer to accounts associated with betting.

In other words, bank customers will not be able to complete transactions via Pix, Ted, or Doc. Whenever they attempt a transaction, they will receive a message informing them that the transfer has been denied.

C6 Bank is not the first digital bank to block customers who engage in online betting. Recently, Nubank also implemented a strategy of sending messages “discouraging” customers from betting, and at another point, it prevented some users from making Pix transfers to accounts identified as betting operators.
