Zona de Azar Brasil – Brazil: CPI on Betting Manipulation Could Be Extended for Another 45 Days

Brazil – February 13, 2025 – www.zonadeazar.com Senator Jorge Kajuru (PSB-GO) wants to extend the work of the Parliamentary Inquiry Commission (CPI) on Match-Fixing and Sports Betting Manipulation for another 45 days. The initial plan was for the commission to operate only until February 15, meaning until the end of this week.

Kajuru, who is the president of the CPI, submitted a request to the General Secretariat of the Senate, asking for the additional 45 days.

In the document, he highlights that the extension is necessary due to the lack of a minimum quorum for the meetings scheduled for Tuesday (11) and Wednesday (12). The final report of the commission, under the responsibility of Senator Romário (PL-RJ), was supposed to be presented during these meetings.

The minimum quorum, in this case, is six senators.

Established in April 2024, this CPI aims to investigate allegations and suspicions of match-fixing in Brazilian football, with the possible involvement of players, officials, and betting companies.
