Zona de Azar Brasil – Brazil: IBJR and Gaming Industry Await Regulations for Fixed Odds Betting

Brazil.- July 18, 2024  www.zonadeazar.com  The IBJR and the gaming industry await the publication of initiatives aimed at regulating fixed-odd betting.

Established in April this year, the Regulatory Agenda was divided into four phases, with 11 ordinances expected to be published by July 2024. However, two weeks before the deadline, only five were published.

The sector continues to wait for the publication of other ordinances, which will define essential rules for the proper functioning of the market, such as technical and security requirements for online games, guidelines for the promotion of responsible gaming, among many others.

Another concern is the delay in the SIGAP Manual, which promises to define the reports and accountability dynamics of operators with the SPA, the regulatory body. Without this publication, there are no definitions necessary to complete the development of the platforms.

These delays compromise the planning and execution of companies’ landing, as they reduce the deadline for them to make the necessary adjustments until January 1, 2025, the date on which market regulation rules will come into force.
