Brazil.- May 16, 2024 www.zonadeazar.com  John Textor, owner of SAF do Botafogo, forwarded new documents and requests to the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) on Sports Betting in the Senate, keeping everything confidential, just as he did with the previous information.

People linked to the CPI indicated that Textor provided more reports and videos produced by Good Game, a company that analyzes atypical activities in football games and which was hired by the Rio team.

Textor has denounced, since the final of the 2023 Brazilian Championship, the manipulation of results in Brazilian football, which, according to him, would have been a loss for Botafogo in the last competition, where the team led with a difference of 14 points and ended not taking the title.

John Textor Faces Third Stjd Trial

The owner of the Sociedade Anônima do Futebol (SAF) of Botafogo will soon face his third hearing at the Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD). He has already been penalized twice: a 45-day suspension and a R$100,000 fine for comments made after a game against Palmeiras in 2023, and another 60-day suspension for allegedly not cooperating with sports authorities.

Currently, the STJD will evaluate an action without a specific name filed by Palmeiras against the owner of Botafogo. Palmeiras is trying to obtain a court order to prevent Textor from speaking about the club, due to suspicions of interference in football.

However, the STJD prosecutor rejected Palmeiras’ request, which asked for a 90-day ban and fines of R$100,000 for each time Textor mentioned the club.

In short, the Attorney General of the STJD declared that it is “legally unfeasible” to prohibit Textor from making future references to Palmeiras.
