Zona de Azar Brazil – Brazil: Procon of São Paulo Analyzes Monitoring Betting Companies

Brazil.- June 14, 2024 www.zonadeazar.com Procon of São Paulo requested the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting of the Ministry of Finance (SPA/MF) for the obligation to evaluate the behavior of betting companies that want a concession to explore the sports betting market in Brazil.

According to the entity, it is necessary to monitor companies regarding their practices in the consumer market, with regard to compliance with the provisions of the Consumer Protection Code. On May 21, the SPA published Ordinance No. 827, which initiated the initiation of internal processes to grant authorization to operate sports betting in the national territory.

Procon understands that this analysis is interesting to evaluate the integrity and qualifications of companies in terms of imposing verification of compliance with consumer protection standards.

“Measuring the suitability and technical qualification of betting companies is essential so that consumers have more support from protection and defense bodies against abuses,” said the executive director of Procon-SP, Luiz Orsatti Filho.

The entity also highlighted that it continues to monitor consumer relationships with companies, with the aim of providing guidance on consumer rights, as well as the practice of responsible gaming. In fact, the responsible gaming agenda is extremely important as required by law.
