Zona de Azar Brasil – Brazil: Public Prosecutor’s Office Carries Out Operation Against Match-Fixing

Brazil.- March 12, 2025 www.zonadeazar.com This Tuesday (11), the Federal District Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPDFT), through the Special Action Group for Combating Organized Crime (Gaeco), launched the second phase of Operation End of Game.

Agents executed search and seizure warrants in three cities in the state of São Paulo and in the Federal District. The operation focuses on investigating a match-fixing scheme in the Candangão 2024, involving the Santa Maria club and former executive William Pereira Rogatto.

According to the MPDFT, Rogatto, known for his involvement in sports fraud, recruited players to manipulate games. This way, he facilitated major defeats and ensured that scores aligned with bets placed on specialized websites.

During the Senate’s Parliamentary Inquiry Commission (CPI) on Match-Fixing and Sports Betting, Rogatto admitted his involvement in similar fraud schemes across multiple clubs. Consequently, these actions led to the relegation of 42 teams in different states.

First Phase of the Operation

In the first phase of the operation, conducted in February 2024, players Alexandre Batista Damasceno and Nathan Henrique Gama da Silva, defenders of Santa Maria, were targeted by search and seizure orders. According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, these players played key roles in ensuring predetermined match losses.

Two championship matches were allegedly manipulated:

  • Santa Maria 0 x 6 Ceilândia (02/03/2024, Abadião Stadium)
  • Santa Maria 0 x 5 Gama (02/18/2024, Bezerrão Stadium)

Investigations led to the arrest warrant for William Rogatto and his inclusion on Interpol’s wanted list. Police captured him in Dubai in November 2024, and he is currently awaiting extradition to Brazil.

New Phase of the Match-Fixing Investigation

In this new phase, investigations focus on suspects involved in the fraud and possible money laundering activities. Those under investigation include:

  • Dayana Nunes Feitosa, president of Santa Maria.
  • Amauri Pereira dos Santos, former football manager of the club.
  • Selma Pereira Rogatto, mother of William Rogatto.
  • Ana Paula de Oliveira, also investigated for her ties to the scheme.

The operation was supported by the Gaeco of the São Paulo Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Special Actions Battalion of the Military Police. It was carried out in three cities in São Paulo state and in the Federal District, expanding the scope of the investigation.

With the developments of Operation End of Game, the Public Prosecutor’s Office aims to deepen investigations into the criminal network involved in football fraud in Brazil and hold those responsible accountable.
