Brazil.- May 13, 2024 www.zonadeazar.com  The personal data of the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, was illegally used to register in the “PixBet” betting house.

The Federal Police was called and the company says it took the appropriate measures, blocking the registration.

The case occurred last year, when the government was coordinating with Congress the approval of the law that now regulates the operation of the online betting market (with fixed odds) in Brazil, the so-called “Bets.” The law was approved on December 22.

Previously, on the 18th, the Treasury sent a letter to the Minister of Justice and Public Security, informing that Haddad had been aware of the improper use of his personal data. The document cites a violation of the General Data Protection Law (LGPD).

The National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) and the Federal Police took charge of the investigation of the events.

In responses to the authorities, “PixBet” stated that in addition to blocking the registration, it included the minister’s name in the security lock for politically exposed people.

The case was reported for the first time by the newspaper “Folha de São Paulo” and confirmed by GLOBO.

In January, a decree by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva formalized the creation of the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA), in charge of monitoring this market.

The Ministry of Finance announced a schedule to regulate the online betting and prize market, which includes the publication of 11 ordinances to regulate the market, until the beginning of the second half of the year. Various topics will be discussed, from the fight against money laundering or fraud to the commercial exploitation of fixed-odds betting.

There will also be a regulation of “sanctioning actions”, with procedures to apply administrative sanctions to irregular commercial exploitation activities.
