Zona de Azar Brazil – Brazil: The São Paulo Court Orders the Blocking of 15 Online Gambling Sites

Brazil.- September 10, 2024 www.zonadeazar.com  The São Paulo Court has ordered the blocking of access to 15 online gambling websites following a complaint by the Association for the Defense of Games and Bets (Adeja).

According to BNLData, citing the case files, the civil lawsuit was filed by the Association for the Defense of Games and Bets (Adeja), which claims that the defendants act as intermediaries in the financial flow of unlicensed and unregulated betting sites in Brazil, receiving amounts from users and transmitting them as platforms. When contacted for the report, the companies mentioned did not comment on the case.

“The 35th Civil Court of the Capital ruled, in a preliminary decision, to block access to 15 websites linked to virtual gambling, authorizing the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) to take the necessary measures with internet providers,” said the São Paulo Court of Justice (TJSP) on Friday, September 6th.

“In the decision, Judge Gustavo Henrique Bretas Marzagão highlighted the notorious negative effects that slot machine games, hosted on clandestine and unauditable websites, have caused on the population,” said the TJSP. The magistrate cited individuals who lost all their assets in illegal betting.

“The facts narrated in the initial complaint and the accompanying documents demonstrate the credibility of the plaintiff’s claims regarding the defendants’ involvement in the damage suffered by the community, as they act as intermediaries in the financial flow, ensuring that the money paid by users reaches the accounts of the betting site owners,” Bretas stated.

According to the TJSP, the decision is subject to appeal. Among the companies mentioned in the process are Ycfshop Tecnologia em E-commerce Ltda; Golden Cat Processamento de Ação Ltda; Vmor Comercial Ltda; Arkpago Ltda; Hkp Pay Escolhas Ltda; Sqalapay Escolhas Ltda; Vacano Facilitadora de Pagamentos Ltda; Moneta Transfer Ltda, and Payway Consultoria e Serviços Ltda.
