Zona de Azar Brazil – DraftKings and MGM are Studying Entering the Brazilian Betting Market.

Brazil.- April 4, 2024  www.zonadeazar.com  The two global giants in the betting industry, MGM and DraftKings, have begun to study the possibility of entering the Brazilian betting market. Recently regulated, the market is growing rapidly and is considered highly advantageous for international betting houses.

Brazil leads the ranking of regions that have experienced the highest growth in this market, surpassing countries like the Netherlands and Spain. As a result, analysts specialized in the sector see Brazil poised for further growth.

At the beginning of the year, 134 companies showed preliminary interest in operating in Brazil, including giants like DraftKings, MGM, and the international casino operator of the Seminole Tribe of Florida, Hard Rock International.

“We are excited to see Brazil approve legislation on online gaming and, as one of over 100 companies that submitted expressions of interest, we continue to explore the potential for expansion in Brazil in the future,” said Griffin Finan, Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of DraftKings, in an email statement to Portal O Globo.

With the arrival of these global giants, the market tends to consolidate, and with it, smaller companies will have to withdraw from the market, as studies already predict. According to DataHub, there are currently over 1,000 operators based in the state of São Paulo.

For the CEO of Esportes da Sorte, Darwin Filho, “there are many serious players who will not be able to afford this license.” The regulations stipulated that companies pay a fee of R$ 30 million for a license valid for five years.
