Zona de Azar Brazil – Public Hearing on Gaming Legalization in Brazil Scheduled for Next September 15th

Brazil.- 07th September 2021 www.zonadeazar.com The public hearing in the Chamber of Deputies to discuss the regulatory framework for gaming in Brazil was scheduled for September 15 at 2:30 pm. Convened by the president of the Tourism Commission, Deputy Bacelar, the meeting aims to resume discussions to speed up the approval of the activity in the country with the objective of “moving the Brazilian economy and generating 700 thousand direct and indirect jobs.” There are six invited to the meeting, among them, Gustavo Guimarães, Secretário da SECAP / ME.

Last week, Deputy Bacelar met with the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira, to reinforce the importance of discussing and approving the regulatory framework for gaming in Brazil and spoke of the opportune moment for this, given the serious economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, having sensitized the President of the House.

At the public hearing scheduled for September 15 at 2:30 pm, Deputy Bacelar intends to reinforce what he said to Arthur Lira and justified, in his request for the meeting, that “for the national economy, the government could start to collect impressive amounts of taxes – some experts speculate a gain of R$20 billion in taxes annually. Another factor would be the attraction of international investors to the Brazilian market, which has enormous potential.”

As stated in application 63/21, those invited to the public hearing are:

– Gustavo Guimarães, Secretary of Evaluation, Planning, Energy and Lottery of the Special Secretariat of Finance;

– Bruno Omori, President of the Institute of Development, Tourism, Culture, Sport and Environment;

– Daniel Corrêa Homem de Carvalho, Secretary of the Special Committee on Sports Games, Lottery and Entertainment Law – OAB Nacional;

– Raul Lima Neto, President of the Brazilian Jockey Club;

– Regis de Oliveira – lawyer, former Judge of the São Paulo Court of Justice, former federal deputy, and;

– Magno José, President of Brazil’s Legal Gaming Institute (IJL).
