Zona de Azar Canada – Betway, bet365, FanDuel and the IBIA Partner for Canadian Education Program
Canada.- June 01, 2023 www.zonadeazar.com The International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) is working with betting operators in Canada to fund an athlete education program. Operators Betway, bet365 and FanDuel have promised to invest at least CA$300,000 (US$219,830) to provide guidance to athletes and mitigate the problems of match-fixing and sports betting fraud.
IBIA, bet365, Betway and FanDuel recently co-sponsored the Symposium on Competition Manipulation and Gambling in Sport in Toronto. The program was announced to attendees at the event, who represented the CFL, CPL, NFL, NBA, NHL and Hockey Canada, as well as local governments and regulatory authorities.
Khalid Ali, CEO of the IBIA, said, “The IBIA is delighted that our members, such as bet365, Betway and FanDuel, are so committed to sports betting education and are prepared to invest in such an important initiative.”
The IBIA is a non-profit organization and the largest operator-run betting integrity monitoring association in the world. The program will be launched during the second half of 2023. Both face-to-face training and an e-learning portal will be offered, as well as an anonymous reporting app.
Jean-Francois Reymond, former professional basketball player and IBIA’s Education Ambassador, gave a keynote speech during the symposium. He said of the new program, “Our objective is to build a best-in-class program for all athletes that serves to protect the integrity of Canadian sport and the careers of Canada’s athletes.”
