Canada.- The CFL, an American football league in Canada, suspended defenseman Shawn Lemon indefinitely for betting on league games, including a game in which he participated. According to the CFL, the bets were placed in 2021, when Lemon was playing for the Calgary Stampeders.

The League also commented that the bets placed by Lemon did not show any direct influence on the games on which the athlete bet. According to the CFL, teammates, coaches and staff were unaware of Shawn Lemon’s actions.

“The integrity of our game is of paramount importance. Any other factor has no weight when the legitimacy of the CFL can be questioned,” said CFL Commissioner Randy Ambrosie.
