In preparing the Study, the Legal Gambling team has highlighted that, despite strict government restrictions, interest in Chile has shown a steady increase, even outperforming that of other regulated Latin American countries. Below are some key findings:
Established operators: Continued interest has benefited established operators in Chile.
There is also a high acceptance of new brands that have achieved notable acceptance. Such growing interest in Chile compared to other Latin American countries is highlighted by the interest in sports betting compared to other countries in the region, as seen in the following table.
As for other notable data, it can be seen that the popularity of sports betting in Chile grew by an impressive 108% when comparing the minimum values of February 2024 with those of June of the same year.
“A regional comparison in June shows that interest in sports betting in Chile was 9% higher than in Argentina and 18% higher than in Colombia. This figure is particularly relevant considering that the Copa América final was played between the national teams of these countries,” concludes Benites.
