Zona de Azar Chile – CGS Events: “Urged Chile not to be Left Behind in the Regulation of Online Games”
Chile.- June 05, 2024 www.zonadeazar.com At the CGS Santiago 2024 event, Carlos Baeza (Photo), representative of PAL in Chile; Cecilia Valdés, president of the Chilean Association of Gaming Casinos; and Rodrigo Álvarez, former Undersecretary of the Treasury, highlighted the need for a modern law for the online gaming industry.
In the panel “Challenges of Online Gaming Regulation in Chile”, Baeza highlighted the importance of modern regulation that incorporates international experience and adjusts the tax burden of the bill under debate.
Álvarez criticized the proposed tax framework for being excessive and harmful, in addition to opposing the blocking of current operators. Valdés emphasized the urgency of updating the law to include new types of games, aligning with global digitalization.
