Zona de Azar U.K. – 888 Casino Receives Clearance From UKGC After License Review

U.K.- March 27, 2024 www.zonadeazar.com  Recently, 888 Casino underwent a regulatory review by the United Kingdom Gambling Commission (UKGC) and was cleared of any sanctions. The analysis began after FS Gaming attempted to purchase a portion of the betting company in June.

In the meantime, FS Gaming acquired 6.5% of 888 Casino and proposed the appointment of Lee Feldman, Kenny Alexander, and Stephen Morana as President, CEO, and CFO, respectively, all with previous experience at GVC Holdings, now called Entain. 888 Casino kept the UKGC informed about the stock acquisition and proposed appointments.

Meanwhile, GVC was facing an investigation by HM Revenue & Customs related to previous operations in Turkey, which was resolved in December with a £585 million agreement with the Crown Prosecution Service.

However, in July, 888 Casino decided not to proceed with FS Gaming and took a new direction, appointing Per Widerström as CEO in October. After the termination of negotiations with FS Gaming, the UKGC initiated a review of 888 Casino’s license, which was concluded without the need to impose penalties or additional measures.

888 Casino’s Transparency

888 highlighted that the review conducted by the UKGC was completed “without the need to impose additional conditions on the license, financial penalties, or other actions against the group, after finding that the risks to the licensing objectives set out in the Gambling Act were adequately controlled and mitigated.”

The company’s commitment to regulatory compliance and its open interaction with the UKGC demonstrate its dedication to integrity and responsibility in the online betting market.
