Canada.- May 2, 2017 www.zonadeazar.com The €5,300 PokerStars Championship presented by Monte-Carlo Casino® Main Event drew 727 runners who pushed the total prize pool up to €3,525,950. The last player standing is set to receive the €500,800 first-place prize along with the title. The champion’s name will also be engraved on the spectacular Main Event trophy to accompany former winners Christian Harder, Kenneth Smaron and Elliot Smith.

The top 143 players will walk away with a reward, with the min-cash worth €7,580. The tournament is currently about hundred places away from the money.

Those who bought in straight in to Day 2 included some of the world’s famous players, such as Luke Schwartz, Dario Sammartino, Jussi Nevanlinna, Byron Kaverman, Timothy Adams and Team PokerStars Pro Randy “nanonoko” Lew. However, Lew’s appearance didn’t last very long as he was eliminated during the first level of the day.

Team PokerStars Pros who are still in contention include Liv Boeree, Celina Lin, Bertrand ElkY Grospellier, Daniel Negreanu, Fatima Moreira de Melo, Igor Kurganov and Jason Mercier.

Kurganov’s table was picked for the PokerStars TV broadcast that kicked off today at noon. The Russian was drawn to a star-studded table that’s also featuring Peter Eichhardt, John Juanda, Christoph Vogelsang, Jack Salter, Preben Stokkan and Charlie Carrel. Players from 76 countries participated in the Main Event. France had by far the largest audience, with 135 players (19%). SPECIAL PRIZES UP FOR GRABS IN MONTEDAM SWING
A unique collaboration has been announced beetween the leading global gaming brands World Poker Tour® and PokerStars, who have joined forces for the PokerStars Championship WPT® MonteDam Swing™. Enhancing the schedule for players in Europe, the PokerStars Championship presented by Monte-Carlo Casino® (April 25-May 5) will be followed by WPT® Amsterdam (May 5-13) and both of these major poker events will share a special leaderboard. Results of the €1,100 PokerStars National Championship, €5,300 PokerStars Championship Monte Carlo Main Event, €1,600 buy-in WPTDeepStacks Amsterdam and €3,300 WPT Amsterdam Main Event will combine for a special leaderboard, rewarding the five top-ranked players with various packages and tickets to the upcoming stops of both PokerStars Championship and WPT. There is yet to be a European to lift the coveted PokerStars Championship Main Event trophy. The first three titles went to all the North Americans: Christian Harder (USA) took down the inagural PokerStars Championship Bahamas Main Event while Kenneth Smaron (USA) and Elliot Smith (Canada) won the Main Events in Panama and Macau, respectively.

HOST OF STARSFUN ACTIVITIES AWAY FROM THE TABLES
While the tournament schedule offers a great deal of fun to be experienced at the poker tables, there’s a lot of #StarsFun activities prepared for the players, too. The Virtual Reality Challenge will run each day from 11am to 10pm, with the highest scoring players receiving daily prizes such as VR headset and PokerStars Merchandise.

Fans of the luxury sports cars can enjoy a free 30-minute ride in a Ferrari or Lamborghini as #StarsFun are giving away 100 free rides around the Principality during PokerStars Championship Monte Carlo. Playing selected events (various buy-ins) will enter players into a daily draw for free Ferrari rides – and all players who bubble any live satellite in Monaco will also receive a free voucher.

Live Spin & Go tournaments are returning with buy-ins ranging from €50 to €500. Players will have a chance to win the biggest prize yet, with the wheel awarding up to €10,000 per €500 spin in the three-handed game.
