Zona de Azar Malta – Maciej Smolarek Resigns as Chief Technology Officer at Yggdrasil

Malta.- May 16th 2024 www.zonadeazar.com Maciej Smolarek is stepping down as chief technology officer at igaming provider Yggdrasil Gaming.

“After a challenging and amazing time in Yggdrasil, it’s time for me to go on a new mission,” Smolarek wrote on LinkedIn. “I’m looking for senior managerial roles in software engineering. I’m available very soon and open to travel.”

Smolarek began his role in January 2023. Prior to this, Smolarek worked at Crimson Pine Games as director of engineering. He also has experience at Ten Square Games and Huuuge Games in Poland.

“I have spent the last 7+ years in gaming – a highly competitive, dynamic, and ever-changing industry. Before gaming, I gathered my experience in software houses, working with over 300 customers,” he added.

Smolarek’s departure comes just more than a month after Mark McGinley said he would be leaving his role as chief product officer at Yggdrasil.

“After much reflection on my career goals and recent changes within the Executive team, I am bidding farewell to my colleagues at Yggdrasil,” McGinley wrote on LinkedIn. “I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked alongside such talented individuals and cherish the memories we have created together. As I embark on new endeavors, I will carry with me the invaluable lessons and experiences gained.”

James Curwen replaced Björn Krantz as CEO in October. The company also revealed plans to restructure last June, resulting in its “Product and Programmes” and “Studio” verticals operating under a single “Gaming” unit.
