UK.- May 2, 2024 www.zonadeazar.com The United Kingdom Gambling Commission has reported that total online gross gambling yield from online and in-person gambling at licensed betting operators across the U.K. for the first quarter was $1.75 billion, up 5 percent from last year’s $1.63 billion, while total number of bets and spins reached a record high of 24 billion, up 10 percent year-over-year.

Online slot games significantly drove the GGY increase, reporting a $766-million GGY, up 11 percent from last year, while the number of spins on online slots increased by 12 percent. While the number of bets fell 6 percent, real event betting also saw a 2 percent increase in GGY, reaching $705 million.

However, GGY from the nation’s largest retail operators fell 3 percent to $709 million and the total number of bets and spins fell slightly to 3.3 billion, a 1 percent decrease. From these, over-the-counter bets saw a 1 percent decrease to $172 million, while self-service betting terminals reported a record $49 million in bets.

In fiscal year 2022-23, the UKGC reported a record $18.8 billion in revenue from the betting and gaming industry, or $13.6 billion excluding the National Lottery.
