Gibraltar Seeks New Executive Gambling Director

Gibraltar Launches Search for New Regulatory Leader

Gibraltar.- June 19, 2026 – www.zonadeazar.com  Gibraltar’s Ministry of Justice, Trade and Industry has officially begun the search for a new Gambling Commissioner & Executive Director, one of the most influential regulatory positions in the global online gaming industry.

The role will oversee the strategic management of Gibraltar’s gambling framework, one of the world’s leading jurisdictions for betting and iGaming operators. The appointment will be made on a two-year contract, with the possibility of renewal.

End of an Era for Andrew Lyman

The vacancy follows more than six years of leadership by Andrew Lyman, who played a key role in modernizing Gibraltar’s regulatory environment and strengthening its international competitiveness.

During his tenure, Gibraltar advanced a major regulatory reform that expanded supervisory, compliance and enforcement powers for the regulator.

Prediction Markets at the Heart of the Debate

One of the most notable aspects of Lyman’s tenure has been his support for Prediction Markets. Gibraltar became one of the few European jurisdictions to license operators in this segment, taking a more innovation-friendly approach than many of its continental counterparts.

Industry stakeholders are now closely watching whether his successor will maintain this pro-innovation stance or adopt a stricter regulatory approach in line with current European trends.

An Appointment with Global Impact

Candidates must demonstrate senior executive, regulatory or strategic experience within the gaming industry, alongside fiscal expertise and strong public affairs credentials.

The appointment is expected to attract significant attention from operators, suppliers, investors and regulators worldwide, given Gibraltar’s continued importance as a leading global gaming hub.
