Doug Polk Steps Away From Active Role at The Lodge
United States.- 7 July 2026 www.zonadeazar.com Professional poker player Doug Polk has announced that he is stepping away from his active operational role at The Lodge Card Club, one of Texas’ largest poker clubs. He will remain a shareholder but will no longer be involved in the day-to-day management of the business as he focuses on other ventures and family commitments.
News Details
Polk said the decision was driven by the increasing demands of his other business projects and his growing family, making it the right time to leave operational responsibilities.
He became co-owner of The Lodge Card Club in 2022 alongside fellow poker professionals Andrew Neeme and Brad Owen, helping transform the venue into one of Texas’ leading poker destinations.
His departure follows a difficult period for the club after Texas authorities raided its Round Rock location earlier this year, forcing a temporary closure, staff layoffs and the postponement of a scheduled World Poker Tour (WPT) event. The venue reopened in late May 2026, and no criminal charges have been brought against the business or its owners.
Industry Context
The announcement highlights the ongoing regulatory uncertainty surrounding poker clubs in Texas, where operators continue to face legal scrutiny. Despite these challenges, The Lodge remains one of the most prominent poker venues in the United States.
Statements
Doug Polk said:
“With several other projects demanding more of my time, and my family continuing to grow, I’ve decided this is the right time to step back from my involvement with The Lodge so I can focus more fully on those priorities.”
He also added:
“I have every confidence in the current management team, employees and ownership. I expect The Lodge will continue to thrive.”
Next Steps or Impact
Although Polk is leaving his operational position, he will continue as a shareholder. The existing management team will oversee the club’s next phase as it seeks to build on its recovery following recent legal and operational challenges.
