SBC Launches Global Prediction Markets Forum in Lisbon

Portugal.- 12 August 2026 | www.zonadeazar.com SBC has announced the launch of the Global Prediction Markets Forum, a new standalone event dedicated exclusively to the growth, regulation and future development of prediction markets.

The forum will take place on 1 October 2026 in Lisbon, alongside the SBC Summit, bringing together operators, regulators, investors, specialists and policymakers involved in the emerging sector.

News Details

The Global Prediction Markets Forum will be held at the five-star Myriad by SANA Hotel and feature a full day of conference sessions, panel discussions, fireside chats, case studies and networking activities.

The programme will examine the commercial, regulatory and technological forces driving the development of prediction markets.

Key topics will include regulatory developments in the United States and Europe, the differences between prediction markets and conventional sportsbooks, player protection, integrity and the growing convergence between sports betting and financial markets.

Event Programme

Sessions will examine the evolution of prediction markets, the future of event contracts and the regulatory approaches emerging on both sides of the Atlantic.

The agenda will also explore how prediction markets differ from traditional sportsbooks and what mechanisms can be implemented to protect participants.

Another central topic will be the increasingly blurred boundary between betting products and financial-market instruments, alongside discussion of whether the sector is positioned for significant expansion or future contraction.

Industry Context

Prediction markets are experiencing rapid growth alongside increasing regulatory scrutiny.

Their expansion is generating debate over legal classification, integrity, consumer protection and the boundaries separating financial products from gambling.

The new forum is intended to provide a dedicated setting in which stakeholders can examine these questions and exchange perspectives on the future direction of the industry.

Statements

Rasmus Sojmark, CEO and Founder of SBC, said:

“In all my time in the industry, I cannot remember many topics generating as much interest and excitement as prediction markets. But when a sector evolves this quickly, questions inevitably arise.”

He added:

“This forum is no longer about explaining what prediction markets are. Its purpose is to give stakeholders the tools and knowledge required to understand where the sector is heading, how it can develop responsibly and how its long-term success can be ensured.”

Next Steps or Impact

The forum will operate as a standalone event alongside the SBC Summit and Affiliate Leaders Summit.

A dedicated ticket will cost EUR 399 and will be available both to delegates attending other SBC events and to participants interested exclusively in the Global Prediction Markets Forum.

Attendees will also receive a copy of the latest prediction markets report produced by SBC Insight.

The programme will include three dedicated networking opportunities: a welcome coffee, networking lunch and closing cocktail reception.
