Alyson Guerra Signs for River and Joins AFA’s New U12 Competition
Argentina.- 16 August 2026 | www.zonadeazar.com Concordia-born footballer Alyson Guerra has officially completed her registration with River Plate and is now registered with the Argentine Football Association (AFA) to compete within the club’s youth structure.
The player, who began her football development at Club Defensores de Nebel, will join River’s women’s U12 squad for the new development championship organised by AFA.
A New Step at River Plate
Guerra completed the registration process and became the youngest player from Concordia to be officially registered with AFA as a River Plate footballer.
The move marks another important stage in her sporting development after beginning her football journey in Entre Ríos.
She will now have the opportunity to compete regularly within the youth system of one of Argentina’s leading football clubs.

After completing the signing process, Alyson Guerra said:
“From the day I arrived at River, I imagined this moment. I dreamed of growing, learning and continuing to fight for a place. That dream that once seemed so far away is now becoming stronger with the signing of my AFA registration.”
She added:
“It is an enormous source of pride, but also a great responsibility.”
Guerra also said:

AFA’s First U12 Development Championship
Guerra’s arrival coincides with another step forward in the development of girls’ youth football in Argentina.
AFA will launch the first women’s U12 Development Championship, designed for players born between 2014 and 2016.
It will be an official and regular competition in an age category where structured competitions specifically for girls remain relatively limited across South America.
The inaugural edition will feature 11 clubs from the Buenos Aires metropolitan area: Banfield, Boca Juniors, Ferro Carril Oeste, Huracán, Independiente, Platense, Racing Club, River Plate, San Lorenzo, UAI Urquiza and Vélez Sarsfield.
Debut Against San Lorenzo
River Plate will open its campaign against San Lorenzo, a fixture in which Guerra could make her official debut in the club’s colours.
Matches in the new category will last 50 minutes, divided into two 25-minute halves.
Impact on Women’s Football
The creation of an U12 competition represents an important step towards developing female players from an earlier age and allows clubs to begin building youth structures comparable to those that have historically existed in the men’s game.
For Guerra, the signing opens a new chapter at River and gives her the opportunity to continue developing within an official AFA competition.
Her move from Concordia also reflects the growing opportunities for young players from Argentina’s interior to access the development structures of the country’s biggest clubs.
