ALEA Welcomes New Rules for Responsible Gambling Warnings

The measure recognises provincial regulations and prevents the duplication of national warnings where jurisdictions already have their own rules meeting the required technical standards.

Recognition of Provincial Regulations

Under the new framework, provinces and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires with their own responsible gambling advertising requirements will be able to fulfil the national obligation by applying their existing local rules.

Operators will therefore not need to display additional national warnings when provincial requirements pursue the same consumer-protection objectives.

The change is intended to simplify regulatory compliance without removing obligations related to the prevention of problem gambling.

Federal Regulatory Approach

ALEA considers the resolution an acknowledgement of the powers held by Argentina’s provinces over gambling regulation.

The association highlighted that local regulatory bodies already implement responsible gambling and commercial communication policies tailored to their respective markets.

The new framework seeks to coordinate those requirements with national rules while avoiding unnecessary duplication.
