India Strengthens Anti-Corruption Monitoring Across State Cricket Leagues

India.- 22th August 2026 www.zonadeazar.com The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has expanded the scope of its Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU), bringing state-run T20 leagues under closer scrutiny amid increasing concerns over suspicious approaches involving bookmakers, players, team owners and managers.

The move represents an important shift in Indian cricket’s integrity strategy. Previously, comprehensive monitoring focused primarily on international cricket, the Indian Premier League (IPL) and other major competitions. For the first time, the ACSU is extending this level of oversight across state-run T20 leagues.

Officials are expected to pay particular attention to people meeting players and team personnel at hotels during tournaments, as part of efforts to identify potentially improper approaches.

The issue gained additional attention following an incident in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), where a player was sanctioned after being found with an undeclared mobile phone inside the Players and Match Officials Area (PMOA), where communication devices are prohibited under anti-corruption protocols.

As regional T20 competitions expand commercially through franchises, sponsorships and broadcasting arrangements, their integrity risks are also becoming more complex. Stronger monitoring, security, education and reporting mechanisms are therefore becoming an increasingly important part of protecting players and competitions from corruption and the misuse of inside information.

As state T20 cricket grows, the integrity framework protecting it must grow as well.
