Peru.- 6 October 2026 | www.zonadeazar.com Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Mincetur, has blocked 50 online gaming and sports betting platforms operating without the required authorisation.
The action was carried out through the General Directorate of Casino Games and Slot Machines, DGJCMT, as part of a broader strategy targeting illegal online gambling.
86 Platforms Already Blocked
Following the latest intervention, the cumulative number of blocked platforms has reached 86.
Mincetur has also identified additional sites within a group of 157 platforms targeted for intervention during 2026.
Coordination With the MTC
The blocking action was carried out by the DGJCMT in coordination with Peru’s Ministry of Transport and Communications, MTC.
The enforcement work is intended to ensure compliance with Law No. 31,557, which regulates remote gaming and remote sports betting in Peru.
Gaming Content and Payment Methods Removed
The authorities’ actions extend beyond domain blocking.
Mincetur has also secured the removal of gaming content and payment methods linked to websites operating without authorisation.
The objective is to restrict both the operational and financial capacity of unlicensed operators.
Illegal Supply Reduced by More Than 50%
According to the authorities, enforcement activity has reduced the illegal supply of online and remote gaming by more than 50%.
Supervision is focused particularly on platforms continuing to target Peruvian users without an official licence.
Enforcement in Junín
Digital enforcement has also been complemented by a recent physical operation in the district of Chilca, in the Junín region.
Authorities seized equipment being used clandestinely for sports betting.
The operation involved Mincetur, the Peruvian National Police and the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Venue Closures
Mincetur has so far ordered the closure of:
- 17 sports betting venues.
- 10 slot machine halls.
The measures form part of the national enforcement strategy targeting establishments and online platforms operating outside the regulated framework.
Thousands of Inspections
The regulator has also stepped up supervisory activity during 2026.
It has carried out:
- 5,195 inspections of casino and slot machine venues.
- 4,572 inspections involving technology platforms and betting premises.
Illegal Domain Database
The DGJCMT also maintains a database containing approximately 2,000 domains.
The list draws on information from websites classified as illegal or unauthorised by regulators and public authorities in other jurisdictions.
It is used as a tool to identify platforms potentially targeting the Peruvian market.
Regulated Market
Law No. 31,557 requires operators to obtain express authorisation from Mincetur before offering remote gaming or sports betting in Peru.
Licensed companies must comply with technical, tax and supervisory requirements established by the regulator.
Industry Context
Peru has developed a regulated framework for online gaming and sports betting over recent years.
Following the initial licensing phase, Mincetur is increasingly focusing its attention on platforms that continue to operate outside the authorised system.
Next Steps or Impact
Mincetur will continue blocking platforms identified as illegal throughout the remainder of 2026.
Its strategy combines access restrictions, removal of payment channels, digital supervision and physical enforcement operations.
The aim is to progressively reduce the unlicensed market and channel activity towards operators complying with Peru’s regulated framework.
