Rank Group Revenue Rises 5% to £216.1 Million in Fiscal First Quarter
United Kingdom.- 16 October 2026 | www.zonadeazar.com Rank Group, the British casino, bingo and online gaming operator, has reported a 5% year-on-year increase in like-for-like net gaming revenue (NGR) for the first quarter of its 2026/27 financial year, reaching £216.1 million.
The period, covering July to September 2026, was supported by growth across its digital operations and Grosvenor casinos, while Mecca bingo venues delivered stable revenue.
The company maintained its annual profit expectations but warned about the potential impact of further gambling tax increases in the United Kingdom.
Performance by Division
Rank reported the following like-for-like results:
- Total net gaming revenue: £216.1 million, up 5%.
- Digital operations: £64.9 million, increasing 6%.
- Grosvenor casinos: £108.1 million, up 6%.
- Mecca bingo venues: £32.2 million, unchanged year-on-year.
- Enracha venues: £10.9 million, growing 7%.
Within the UK digital business, Mecca Online recorded 7% growth, while international digital revenue increased by 4%.
These results were achieved despite the higher online gambling tax regime introduced in April 2026.
Grosvenor and Enracha Drive Growth
Grosvenor reported a 6% revenue increase, supported by 1% growth in customer visits and a 5% rise in spending per visit.
Gaming machine revenue increased by 14%, while table gaming grew 3% and electronic gaming rose 5%.
In Spain, Enracha recorded 7% revenue growth, primarily driven by an 11% increase in electronic gaming revenue.
Meanwhile, Mecca venues maintained stable revenue despite a 3% reduction in customer visits. Rank attributed part of this decline to unusually hot weather during the British summer.
The company also closed three venues in Swansea, Reading Central and Sunderland after determining that they were no longer commercially viable in the medium term.
Concerns Over UK Gambling Taxation
Richard Harris, CEO of Rank Group, welcomed the quarterly revenue growth, particularly the performance of Grosvenor gaming machines and the resilience of the UK digital business.
However, he warned that a potential increase in Machine Games Duty could negatively affect the profitability of land-based gaming venues.
According to Harris, additional taxation could lead to venue closures, job losses and reduced investment.
The company believes maintaining appropriate regulatory conditions is essential for supporting the contribution of casinos and bingo clubs to the British economy.
Next Steps and Impact
Rank Group remains confident of delivering operating profit in line with market expectations for 2026/27, assuming the current UK gambling tax framework remains unchanged.
Digital expansion and improved gaming machine performance remain central to its commercial strategy.
The company will publish its half-year financial results on 28 January 2027, providing further insight into its financial performance and business outlook.
