Brazil: Loterj meets with Brazil’s Central Bank to Strengthen Lottery Regulation in Rio

Brasília, June 19, 2025 www.zonadeazar.com – The State Lottery of Rio de Janeiro (Loterj) took a major step forward in reinforcing the regulation and modernization of the lottery sector in Brazil. On Monday (June 16), Loterj President Hazenclever Lopes Cançado, Vice-President Fabíola Esteves, and legal advisor Nacibe Cade met with senior executives at the Central Bank of Brazil, in Brasília.

The meeting focused on aligning regulatory frameworks and advancing joint initiatives that could shape the future of state-run lotteries. According to Mr. Cançado, the dialogue emphasized cooperation, innovation, and legal security as cornerstones for sustainable growth in the sector.

Loterj representatives were welcomed by Ricardo Teixeira Leite Mourão (Head of Unit, DECEM), Breno Santana Lobo (Deputy Head, DECEM), and Juliana Mozachi Sandri (Head of Unit, DECON). Topics included governance, supervisory structures, and opportunities for digital innovation within the lottery market.

This institutional visit is part of Loterj’s broader strategy to foster social impact, technological development, and regulatory alignment across federal and state levels, promoting a secure and transparent gaming environment for Rio de Janeiro and beyond.
